Furniture Paint Wax
House&Canvas Furniture Wax Top Coat is solvent free, non-toxic and water-based.
Furniture paint wax. If I were painting a dining room table I would use a sealer or top-coat over any paint type. As a rule a top-coat on furniture is not needed for latex paint. The solvents in oil paint will soften it, leaving a tacky finish, and wax prevents water-based varnishes from bonding to the wood surface, causing eventual peeling.
Furniture Paste Wax A furniture paste wax is popular among by DIY users like us. It is pretty, but doesn’t quite hold everything I needed it to in the dining room. It’s really easy to work with too.
I chose this wax because it’s not white white like a lot of the paste waxes or soft waxes. The Deluxe Starter Kit includes everything you need for your project! As it dried I was horrified to watch my lovely white paint turn a dirty yellow particularly around the intricate wood etching.
You’ll receive a quart of the Renaissance Furniture Paint color of your choice, one high quality 2” Paint Brush, one 8oz Clear Wax, one 4oz Dark Wax, one 1.5” Wax Brush, a 1" chip brush, gloves, a wax cloth and detailed instructions on application and tips. A beginner’s guide to paint furniture without effort for a professional finish. However what makes it stand out for waxing chalk painted furniture is one review left by a shabby chic painter.
The chalk paint (vintage white colour) applied really well and being a large piece of furniture I decided to seal it with a water base sealer instead of wax. Allow the paint to dry. Work the brush in loose circular motions to distribute a thin layer of wax across the surface of the paint.
Since chalk paint provides a flat-finish, it usually requires a top coat to seal it in. Painting furniture is one of the easiest ways you can transform a piece. Here are my issues with wax finishes.
