IKEA is collaborating with Ori , an American startup that has developed robotic furniture for modern living and has been challenging the limitations of space in living areas.

Robotic furniture for small spaces. Basically, the robotic furniture divides a small room into two, making full use of the available space to maximize function and reduce clutter. Ori, who produced the first robotic furniture suite in 2017, has just introduced two new "robots," the Ori Cloud Bed and the Ori Pocket Closet. IKEA and Ori collaborate on robotic furniture for small-space living.

More and more people are living and moving into cities where approximately an extra 1.5 million people join the urban population. Swedish furniture maker IKEA is partnering with American startup Ori to create a line of robotic furniture to allow people to “create their dream homes in small spaces.” Ikea has revealed a robotic piece of furniture developed in collaboration with Ori that can simultaneously serve as a bed, wardrobe, shelving and storage unit, sofa, and room separator.

IKEA is collaborating with american startup ori to develop a robotic furniture system called ROGNON. Ori’s designers set out to create a robotic system that could solve the three main challenges of small space living by providing 1) a division of space, 2) a usable living area and 3) increased storage. Yves Béhar and MIT's Ori robotic furniture reconfigures tiny apartments.

The Boston-based startup today announced that it has raised $20 million in a series B round of funding led by Alphabet’s urban innovation offshoot Sidewalk Labs, with participation. A single piece of robotic furniture can solve your space issues—now you can have a walk-in closet and a king-sized bed in even the smallest of apartments. That’s why Ikea is exploring flexible and innovative solutions that empower people to have big dreams for small homes – introducing Rognan robotic furniture developed in collaboration with Ori..

IKEA Partners With Ori Living to Create a Line of Small Footprint All-in-One Robotic Furniture for Urban Spaces IKEA has always been a go-to retailer for small space dwellers. Its Studio Suite , which is a souped-up version of Rognan, starts at $18,990. The furniture is on wheels, powered and guided by a track along the wall.

Among these include small sofas and loveseats, futons and sleepers, ottomans, tv stands, coffee tables and more! Which moves the piece with robotic technology. More information about ROGNAN will follow during the summer 2019.
